The body of a woman was found in her Saugus bedroom Thursday morning in what’s being called a suspicious death, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

Karla Brada, 31, was found lying on her bed not breathing this morning. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Tom Jensen.

Brada was declared dead by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, Jensen said. The death occurred in the 20700 block of Plum Canyon Road in Saugus.

It will not be known if Brada is a victim of homicide until the coroner performs an autopsy, which could take several days, Hernandez said.

A person identified as Brada’s boyfriend was still being held as a witness for questioning at 4 p.m. today, said sheriff’s homicide Lt. Eduardo Hernandez.

But the boyfriend was not a suspect, Hernandez said. No suspects had been identified in the death on Friday.
Investigators were trying to confirm if domestic violence was a factor in the death, Hernandez said.

Sherrif’s deputies had been to the woman’s residence a few times recently, said Johanna Billesbach, a 28-year-old neighbor. Several other neighbors confirmed that sheriff’s deputies had been there several times in the past.

Detectives have asked anyone with information regarding the death to call (323) 890-5500 or CrimeStoppers at (800) 222-8477.
