Attendees explore the booths at last year’s Home and Business Expo. This year’s expo will be Sept 16-18 at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex and feature a beer garden, food trucks, live entertainment and more than 100 exhibits.

A longtime fixture of the Santa Clarita Valley, the 27th annual Home and Business Expo is returning Sept. 16-18.

Also known as the SCV Community Expo, the event, sponsored by the SCV Chamber of Commerce in association with the city of Santa Clarita, will be held at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

Admission is free to the public Saturday and Sunday, along with expanded parking and shuttle service, also free of charge.

Debuting at this year’s event is an Expo Beer Garden and Food Truck Fest, which will be at the Sunday expo.

The three-day event begins with the chamber’s traditional Taste of Expo, a business mixer featuring live entertainment at an outdoor stage, and food selections from more than 30 local restaurants and caterers.

Taste of Expo runs 5-9 p.m. Friday and provides attendees a preview of the exhibit hall. Admission is $20, which includes 10 food and drink tickets.

More than 100 exhibitors are expected in two exhibit halls, in addition to an outdoor exhibit area, showcasing businesses offering products and services to local community businesses and residents.

Also, a nonprofit arena will provide exposure in support of area nonprofit organizations.

Raffles, giveaways, games, a job fair and free flu shots are also scheduled to be part of the weekend expo.

Family Fun Day

Saturday’s expo, running 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., features games provided by Mad Dog Party, with activities and entertainment geared toward families.

College of the Canyons will host a Job, Career and Intern Fair until 2 p.m. related to entry-, middle- and upper-level management opportunities.

Free flu shots, on a first-come first-serve basis, will be given to senior citizens age 65 or older and qualified caregivers until 3 p.m., administered by medical staff of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Adults age 18 and older may also receive a free flu shot if a long-term health problem compromises their immune system, or for those afflicted with a muscle or nerve disorder.

Beer and food trucks

For the first time, several kinds of beer provided by Anheuser-Busch will be available for purchase at the expo, along with food from various gourmet food-truck vendors on Sunday until 3 p.m.

Admittance to the Beer Garden is allowed only to those 21 or older, with an event wristband available for $3.
