As you read this, I'm in Maui! Of all the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is my favorite! Fun, food and lots of history. Actually, as you read this I will be soaring above the jungle canopy on a zip line tour!

Grand Opening of Loose Goose
It was expected that Peter Goossens would throw a spectacular grand opening party for the "World Headquarters" of the Loose Goose in downtown Newhall. Expectations were met - and then some. El Trocadero Restaurant, next door to the Loose Goose, was the perfect venue for the event - with fabulous wine and food. The 909 sq. ft. storefront (22508 Market St., Newhall) that houses Peter's hand-selected wine collection is now open to the public. (Guests were given tickets for exclusive, small tours of the store during the grand opening). If you're looking for spectacular wine - the Loose Goose is now open for business and offers more than 200 varieties of fantastic wine. For information visit the store or call (661) 799-WINE.

Seen at Loose Goose
Among the large crowd spotted attending the grand opening of the Loose Goose were Bob and Diane Benjamin, Dennis Poore, Mary Siegel, Shelley Hann, Jason Crawford, Richard and Marian Sandnes and Pete and Juanita Escovido.

Lennar Hosts Chamber Mixer
It was a full house - and then some - at the model homes for Lennar's newest home development, River Village in Saugus. The Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce hosted an after-hours mixer at the site. Guests were able to tour the gorgeous model homes (I loved the bathrooms), then step outside to view the total lunar eclipse. Just a few of those spotted among the throngs at the event were Greg McWilliams, Guy LeLarge, Ed Masterson, Jay Harn, John Hoskinson, Steven Lee, Roy Schneider, Cindy Kobler, Dennis Poore, Marlee Lauffer, John Pramik, RJ Kelly, Peter Goossens, Lois Bauccio and too many others to list!

Smile for Dental Health Foundation
The annual Masquerade Ball on behalf of the Foundation for Children's Dental Health was held Feb. 9 at the Valencia Country Club. Laura Gallardo was named the "Queen" of the Ball. Dr. Christopher Go, D.D.S. of Go Dental was named "King" of the Ball. Annemarie Donkin (her story on the soiree appeared in Thursday's edition of The Signal) reports that among those "seen" at the event were Bob Kellar and Kathy Keysor-Smith, Ken Pulskamp, Duane and Pauline Harte, Andy and Laura Gallardo, Jim and Susan Backer (president of JSB Development and president of the Foundation for Children's Dental Health), Brendie Bandara, Ericka Watson (executive director/event chairwoman), Robert and Liliana Barba, Lois Bauccio, Dr. Christopher and Rose Go, Steve and Elizabeth Hopp, Bill and Cathy Kennedy, Frank and Charlotte Kleeman, Adelle Macpherson, Randall and Gail Winters, Trevor and Amy Wiese, Diane Trautman and Mike and Elizabeth Stimson.

Missing Some of My Favorite Events
It looks like my trip to Hawaii couldn't come at a worse time! I'm missing some of my favorite Santa Clarita Valley events - events I look forward to all year! Among them: 2008 Newsmakers Award dinner, Canyon Theatre Guild Cabaret, Silver Spur for Community Service event honoring Wayne Crawford and the Xi Nu Zeta Lasagna Dinner.
