I find it ironic that Sarah Palin is the person chosen to hurl this particular bit of mud. Her husband was a member of the Alaska Independence Party until 2002. There are some who claim that she was also a member of this party although that is in dispute. What is known is that Sarah Palin, while the sitting governor of Alaska, addressed the convention of the AIP. In that address she stated, I’m delighted to welcome you to the 2008 Alaska Independence Party Convention. Keep up the good work!
What is the good work of this party? It supports Alaska’s secession from the United States. In 1991 its founder, Joe Volger, told an interviewer, “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government.”
The momentum is with Obama. People have seen that electing McCain would be like giving a thumbs up to the debilitating policies that we’ve seen from the Bush administration for the past eight years. Eight is enough. No amount of swift-boating or mudslinging will change the fact that we need a thoughtful leader to help lead us out of this economic mess. A maverick running wild, without a clear idea of what to do, will just lead us further astray.
