The game can be conducted between two players, or two teams of two, three, or four and resembles lawn bowling.

A new Target ad for vintage jeans titled "Cool Never Fades" features a group of youths playing Bocce Ball against some elderly players. The old guys win, showing that bocce is a game that can be played by all ages.
