Chick-fil-A restaurant is celebrating its one-year anniversary at Valencia Town Center Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

More than 100 people gathered last year, many sleeping overnight in tents, to be on hand for the chain’s debut of a Chick-fil-A in Santa Clarita.

Each customer bringing a birthday card for the restaurant receives a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. The cards will be displayed in the restaurant during the month of August.

The eatery is also throwing an outdoor party, with seating, in its parking lot Wednesday.

Dustin LaChance, franchise operator, and his team of 54 employees are holding festival games and bringing in bounce units and human hamster balls.

DJ Graham Silvers and singer/songwriter Emilie Hendrix will be on hand to liven up the birthday celebration.

“It’s going to be like a block party, really,” said James Kneblik, marketing director for the local franchise. “The vision is for us to say thank you to say so many of the business and nonprofit partners we’ve been able to work with over the last
year.”

“We are grateful for an amazing first year of business and want to create an event that spotlights our dedication to community involvement and our loyal fans,” LaChance said.

“Chick-fil-A has prided itself in partnering in major community and charity events in the Santa Clarita Valley and assisting many schools and nonprofit groups this past year. We look forward to many more years of top-tier service and community engagement.”

The Santa Clarita Chick-fil-A has participated in more than 100 local fundraisers in the past year, almost one every three days, Kneblick said.

The marketing director said he also works behind the counter every few days, and his office is usually a table in the dining room.

A number of local businesses and organizations are also part of the events, including FlyFeNniX Productions, Mad Dog’s Gamers Paradise, My Gym Children’s Fitness Center, SCV Bounce Company, State Farm Insurance, Total Financial Solutions, Inc., Dig It! The Fossil Workshop and Gavin Espinosa ATA Martial Arts.

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center’s BloodMobile will be on hand all day to mark the one-year anniversary, Kneblik said. Chick-fil-A is helping Providence conduct a blood drive from noon to 8 p.m.
