A 56-year-old woman was struck and killed by a suspected drunken driver while she was walking her dogs in Agua Dulce.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the fatality, Officer Marino Hernandez of the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

Lori Lindlief, who had just moved to Agua Dulce, died in the hospital Sunday, he said.

At about 8 p.m. Saturday, Lindlief was walking her dogs with her fiance on Mabana Street, just west of White Fox Lane, when she was hit by a vehicle described as a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado.

"Due to (his) intoxication he failed to see Lindlief and the right front of his vehicle subsequently struck her." Hernandez said.

The woman suffered "major injuries" and was airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, he said.

Dennis Keene, 63, of Agua Dulce, was arrested on the felony charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The investigation is continuing, Hernandez said.
