'Racism' charge insults real victims of racism

How pathetic is it that a paper like The Signal will do anything to get headlines, and some people are so starved for attention that they will malign a person, an organization or even a whole system?

The decision to put the allegation of racism on the front page, with a picture of a woman kissing a pit bull, was a slap in the face of those who have suffered racism or have lost a family member or friend to pit bull attacks.

An assistant principal was simply doing his duty to follow school and district guidelines and protecting his students.

Some of us saw this lady with those big dogs and thought they looked scary. No one is a stranger to the harm these dogs can do once they get out of control.

As for racism at Valencia, I belong to a minority race and teach a minority population of students with moderate to severe disabilities, and all I can say is that I am proud to be at Valencia.

Vince Ferry has boundless compassion, understanding and tolerance for our population, and we are blessed to have him in our corner.

These people who are bringing racism to the level of canines have obviously never experienced it.

Both Tia Torres and The Signal owe an apology to Vincent Ferry and the entire Valencia faculty and student population for dragging us in the mud.
