James E. Brown has been appointed as manager of business attraction for the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp.

A veteran real estate executive, Brown will be responsible for lead generation, prospect development, enhancing broker services and implementation of the SCVEDC’s Business Attraction plan.

Brown will also work closely with local organizations, such as the city of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, College of the Canyons, Spirit Holding and Newhall Land, the SCVEDC announced.

Brown will continue working with Newhall Land in a consulting capacity.

“We could not be more excited to have Jim on board. His broker and developer relationships, development background, industry knowledge and track record of bringing new companies to the Santa Clarita Valley are unmatched,” said Jonas Peterson, SCVEDC president and CEO.

With a long tenure in the real estate industry, Brown has held senior-level and partner positions with Newhall Land, CB Richard Ellis, Grubb & Ellis and the Sammis Company, and currently Sares Regis.

Brown previously served as the vice president of real estate development for Newhall Land. In that role he was involved in the development of Valencia Gateway.

The SCVEDC said Brown has served on the boards for the Valley Industry Association, American Industrial Realtors and National Association of Industrial and Office Parks.

“The SCVEDC is proud to be working with such a talented community marketer,” Peterson said.
