No one was seriously hurt when a pickup truck crashed through the storefront of a Newhall coffee shop Thursday afternoon, officials said.

“I was getting ready to park, and it didn’t stop,” said Terry Ramsey, 68, of Newhall, after she tried to park her vehicle in front of The Coffee House at 23414 Lyons Ave. shortly after 3 p.m.

She suffered minor abrasions to her arm and was tended to and released by paramedics on the scene.

Mark David, owner of The Coffee House, was having lunch inside when he heard what sounded like an explosion or a bomb going off.

His son Cory had left his table at the front of the store shortly before the truck crashed through the front door.

“I couldn’t let it sink in fast enough,” said Cory David, 14, as he described the moments immediately after the truck was driven through the storefront.

“That was insane,” said Marcus Nilsson, 20, of Newhall, who was also inside the shop.

Authorities kept employees and onlookers back as they awaited the arrival of building-and-safety officials to determine the structural integrity of the strip-mall store Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle also came to rest inside a storage area of the RadioShack store adjacent to the coffee shop.

Mark David said he expected his business to be closed for the next couple of weeks as repairs are made.
