SCVEDC
The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. is hosting a free health care reform education seminar Aug. 17 at College of the Canyons.

The SCVEDC’s seminar addresses issues employers need to be aware of as changes in the law take effect.

The free seminar also covers workers’ compensation updates, an overview of the SCVEDC’s business development services and includes a synopsis of services offered by the local Small Business Development Center.

Due to limited seating, interested attendees must register by Aug. 10.

Chamber of Commerce
The SCV Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly luncheon Sept. 8 includes a presentation by Dr. Hoffman of Kaiser Permanente.

Strategies for creating a healthy workforce in the work-place are the primary focus of the presentation.

Employee productivity is affected by healthy, or unhealthy, work environments, which include both mental and physical health.
The SCV Chamber of Commerce is also presenting the first Ian Gelig Memorial Scholarship award, and honoring members of the military who have returned home.

For more information on both events, visit the SCVEDC at www.scvedc.org or the SCV Chamber of Commerce at www.scvchamber.com.
