A darkly comic look at nine presidential assassins

The SCV Actors Group presents the Tony Award-winning musical “Assassins” at The SCV Space Theatre.

As their first production in what is hoped to be a long list of future musicals, The SCV Actors Group will present Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony Award-winning musical, "Assassins." The show, which began Aug. 4, will continue until Aug. 21 at The SCV Space Theatre, directed by Andrew Fish.

According to Fish, "Our approach to Assassins is proving to be a very intimate and compelling theatrical production. Having the assassins also play all the chorus roles brings their perception of the world more to focus. They keep hold of the narrative."

The play cautions us to keep everyone in our society in the loop of humanity. Those who feel they aren't being heard, even if we don't agree with them, need to have a way to have their say. In the end, it reminds us, as a community, about the importance of listening. Sometimes the quietest voice is the one that needs to be heard.

Join The SCV Actors Group for a darkly-comic and fascinating look at the lives, loves, and legacies of nine presidential assassins - a warped and thoroughly tuneful tour.

"Assassins," co-produced by Ravenhill Arts & Theatre, performs at The SCV Space Aug. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. Thursday and Friday shows are at 8 p.m. The first two Saturdays are at 2 p.m., the last Saturday show is at 8 p.m. Sundays are at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
