Within the last two weeks, the self-proclaimed maverick Sarah Palin has managed to stir her supporters into a frenzy of paranoia and intolerance reminiscent of the McCarthy era.

“Say it ain’t so, Joe,” indeed!

All of the hate-filled fervor she has brought forth leads me to ask: Is she truly energizing the Republican base or merely energizing the base Republicans?
