Of winners, losers and American sports

I listened to (Wednesday’s presidential debate) between innings of the baseball game. The Dems said they won; the Republicans said they won.

I don’t know who won the debate, but the Dodgers lost the game and are out of the playoffs. I’m now in mourning.

I should be in mourning about the election, too. Never has there been such an uninspiring duo running for the highest office in the land.

I go along with Dan Donihue about trying to get John Boston back. I really miss him.

I’m totally against his idea for soccer as a sport that needs exposure. Football, baseball, basketball, volleyball! Do you notice all the American games end in “ball”?

All the foreign sports do not. Soccer, golf, rugby, hockey, just to name a few.

I do want to compliment you on the high upgrade of your sport page along with the rest of The Signal. Keep up the good work.

Editor’s note: The term “football” is used by the British for the game Americans call “soccer,” which originated roughly in the 1400s — pre-dating the distinctly American (and superior) game of football by several hundred years.
