Veterans' advocate speaks tonight at City Hall

A specialist in veterans' affairs will speak tonight at City Hall about resources available to local residents who return from military service overseas.

Daniel Spencer, advocate with the Veterans Administration, will detail how veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom may appply for VA benefits, how to deal with related post-traumatic stress, where to find support, and more.

Hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley's Blue Star Mothers Chapter #91, Osby's talk -- free and open to the public -- starts 7 p.m. in the auditorium at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355.

"This is the first in a series of events to help veterans," said Mary O'Neill, Blue Star Mother and organizer of the series. "Next month, Luthe4ran Social Services will come to talk with veterans about jobs."
