The father of a young woman who died of head injuries last summer hopes a vigil in her honor tonight will assure well-wishers that she is not forgotten, and that justice is on its way.

“I want her friends to know that justice will be served,” said Matt Flynn, whose daughter Rosemary died in July of blunt-force trauma to the head. “It will be served.”

Friends of the deceased woman are organizing a vigil tonight in Canyon Country Park.

Rosemary Flynn, 21, died July 31, 2010, after an altercation with her boyfriend.

Witnesses said Flynn got into an argument with her boyfriend outside the apartment they shared on Jakes Way after the two got back from a Canyon Country bar and restaurant about 1:30 a.m. on July 31, said Ron Duval, a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.

When the boyfriend Bryon Murray tried to drive away in his truck, Flynn grabbed onto the driver’s door, Duval said during an interview last year.

As Murray made a U-turn onto Jake’s Way, Flynn was thrown from the side of the truck and hit her head on the asphalt.

The boyfriend brought Flynn back to their apartment. But when Flynn wouldn’t wake up eight hours after she hit her head, Murray called paramedics at 9:15 a.m., Duval said.

Bryon Murray, 29, is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 10, charged with vehicular manslaughter.
