Letter: Where’s all the sand at local parks?

So why do all the parks in SCV get the sand replaced with wood chips? What does the city have against sand?

It gets really hot in the SCV and no, my 8-year-old doesn’t want to keep his shoes on at the park, and really I can’t blame him. What better way to experience the park than to dash through it, barefoot, and experience Mother Earth through the soles of your feet?

Now my family and I have to keep our shoes on for fear of having splinters driven into our skin.

For my kids, playing in the sand with a myriad of sand toys used to be a highlight of a visit to the park, but not anymore.

Perhaps The Signal can find out, and please tell everyone what was wrong with our city parks having sand and why we had to replace the sand with wood chips.
