The U.S. Forest Service announced Friday that Tom Contreras has been named acting supervisor for the Angeles National Forest.

In addition, L'Tanga Watson will move from the position of district ranger for the San Gabriel River Ranger District to the new forest recreation officer for the Angeles National Forest, officials announced in a news release Friday.

Contreras will remain as acting supervisor until a permanent replacement is found.

Contreras, who is forest supervisor for the Mendocino National Forest in Northern California, has been with the Forest Service since 1976.

Watson's new duties will include overseeing and managing recreation activities, including hiking, camping, skiing and water activities.
