Drop partisanship

With the grave importance of the upcoming election, I find myself discussing the political situation with others more often.

Too many dyed-in-the-wool Republicans will vote for the Republican ticket, totally ignoring the results of the past seven and three-quarters years, especially the last 30 days or so. Their reasoning is: 1) The Democratic Party is the party of war. 2) The Republican Party to which they belong is not the party of welfare, taxes or big government. 3). The Democratic Party supports abortion.

In response to each of these issues, I point out:

1). Iraq.

2). In 1998 and 1999, the Democratic administration allowed the Treasury to pay down $138 billion in national debt. During the George W. Bush administration, our deficit has climbed to the highest in our country’s history. Now add almost $1 trillion more to rescue companies that practiced irresponsible capitalism, favor special interests who set all-time record profits, elected officials who use executive privilege all too often.

3) The issue of abortion in the Democratic Party is a “woman’s right to choose.” They are not for abortion.
