Deputies found a Castaic man about an hour after he was reported missing Independence Day, sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.

The 45-year-old man’s parents called police after he sped away from the Paradise Mobile Home Park in Castaic on Monday evening, armed with a .22-caliber rifle, according to Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The man had allegedly threatened suicide earlier in the day, Bryski said.

Deputies found the Castaic resident uninjured in his PT Cruiser not far from his home.

He was taken to the UCLA Olive View Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation, Bryski said.
