Two men were arrested in Canyon Country on Sunday afternoon for allegedly beating a man and stealing $100 in cash from him, according to authorities.

Officials believe the two men are transients who live in the Santa Clara River wash near Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, and that they knew the man they beat, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Deputies apprehended the two suspects after they spotted the men on the 18000 block of Soledad Canyon Road around 5:30 p.m., he said.

"As deputies were talking to the victim, the suspects happened to stroll by, and the victim identified them," Bryski said.

Both suspects were in custody at the SCV Sheriff's Station on Sunday night.
