McManus leads the way

Canyon grad scores two goals in tie against UCLA Bruins

College men's soccer:
McManus named Pac-10 Player of the Week

Former Canyon High soccer player Matt McManus was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for his San Diego State Univeristy team.

The redshirt junior earned his first weekly award after scoring twice in a 3-3 tie against UCLA on Sunday.

The goals were McManus' second and third goals of the season and the third and fourth of his career.

McManus is currently sixth in the conference in goals per game, tied for seventh in goals and is tenth in points per game.

SCCS beats defending champs
Santa Clarita Chrisian beat defending Heritage League champion Faith Baptist on Thursday, 25-17, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20.

Kaley Morrison led the Cardinals with 14 kills, seven blocks, four digs and one service ace.

Karla Eberlein posted eight kills, 12 blocks and four digs. Kristina Gibson also had eight kills, to go with five digs and one block.

Joanna Masopust had 35 assists.

Community football:
SNAP football league to be held at COC

The College of the Canyons football team and LETMESAIL (Lifestyle Enrichment Through Meaningful Exercise, Social Activity and Independent Living) have teamed up once again for the S.N.A.P. (Special Needs Athletes and Peers) Flag Football League Tournament, which will be held at Cougar Stadium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission to the tournament is free and open to the public. Six teams from the surrounding area will participate along with squads from around southern California.
