Two local residents involved in crash at a Newhall gas station Friday remained hospitalized Monday with leg injuries, sheriff’s Detective Jeff Maag said.

Newhall resident Travis Kolbo, 30, was allegedly trying to evade deputies who were attempting to pull him over in a marked patrol car early Friday morning when he crashed into two gas pumps at a Chevron station on Newhall Avenue.
The collision toppled the station’s canopy and trapped Kolbo and his passenger, a 30-year-old Valencia woman, in his Nissan.

Detectives are waiting for the results of a blood-alcohol test on Kolbo, Maag said.

The Newhall man could be charged with a DUI felony if results show he was driving under the influence, Sheriff’s Department officials said.

Meanwhile, the Newhall Chevron station and convenience store are back up and running with the two totaled pumps and overhead canopy removed for safety reasons, a station manager said.
