The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and a red flag warning for central and southern California coastal valleys including the Santa Clarita Valley, extending through Wednesday.

Strong winds will create driving and fire weather hazards today, according to the alerts.

Winds will be northwesterly to northerly in direction and primarily affect the Interstate 5 corridor, the Antelope Valley and the Santa Barbara South Coast.

The Red Flag warning indicates the northerly winds will bring low relative humidities to the region this morning, increasing danger of fire, especially in the I-5 corridor, where gusts could reach 50 m.p.h.
