9 p.m. Thursday Update:
Southern California Edison crews scooped up a downed power pole, unclogging traffic on Soledad Canyon shortly after noon Thursday, a sheriff's official said.

A two-car collision knocked down a Southern California Edison power pole near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Flowerpark Drive about 8 a.m., stopping traffic cold, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Drivers from each car were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Hershey said. Westbound lanes were closed.

Edison crews arrived 30 minutes after the pole crashed to the street, said Chris Coronel, spokesman for Southern California Edison.

One lane of traffic was opened to ease congestion and the remaining lanes opened shortly after noon, he said.
