Rape and punishment

If an American citizen is convicted of rape, his punishment is severe, possibly even life in prison.  Why, then, should alleged rapist Adrian Arriano be deported (for the third time) if he is convicted?

What would be the consequence of his crime, or in this case, crimes? Will he even be imprisoned in his home country?  Will he just get a slap on the wrist there? Or will he soon be coming back here, illegally, possibly to rape still again?

While I don’t like the idea of our citizens’ bearing the cost of keeping an illegal immigrant criminal imprisoned, perhaps for many years, I like even less the thought that a rapist may escape punishment.
