College of the Canyons hosts the fifth annual Santa Clarita Valley College Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Valencia Campus. Representatives from more than 60 colleges and universities will attend to provide information about their programs to high school students and parents.

Sponsored by the college and the William S. Hart Union School District, the event features a mall-like area where students can meet school representatives. Workshops and presentations will provide insights into admissions procedures, financial aid processes, the college systems and much more.

"This is a one-of-a-kind, local opportunity for students and their families to talk with representatives of colleges and universities across the nation in a one-stop-shopping environment," said Jasmine Ruys, director of admissions at COC. "It also provides very specific information about admissions processes from people who are directly involved in those offices."

College Day exposes parents and students to COC's campus and programs by including representatives from several of COC's departments.

"We know that nearly 60 percent of Hart District Students will choose COC to begin their higher education journey," said Bozman. "And this event gives parents and students a chance to explore our Valencia campus and talk with instructors and counselors."

Admission and parking is free.
