Circle of Hope Inc., the Santa Clarita Valley-based breast cancer support group founded by Colleen Shaffer has inherited the popular Vine 2 Wine fundraiser.
The event has been transformed into a major wine-tasting event with Jeff Jacobson, the former chairman of the wine committee for the SCV Wine Classic, serving on the Wine 2 Vine Classic committee.
The event is chaired by Janice Murray and Eve Bushman.
Vine 2 Wine was previously a fundraiser for the defunct Betty Ferguson Foundation.
“While this event has been a signature event in the Santa Clarita Valley for 10 years, we are excited to report that we will be introducing new elements to the event,” said Ray Tippet, executive director of Circle of Hope.
The 10th annual Vine 2 Wine Classic will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Mann BioMedical Park.
Tickets to the event are $50 in advance, $55 at the door.
The new Vine 2 Wine Classic event will include an expanded number of distributors, wineries and vineyards, pouring a wide variety of wine.
Jacobson has arranged for more than 34 wine pouring tables for this event, with more than 100 wineries represented.
In addition, in the tradition of the Wine Classic, a selection of rare and collectible library wines will be available for tasting.
“You’re not going to be able to taste these wines anywhere else,” said Tippet. “They don’t usually pour library wines at festivals.”
New to the event will be the Beer Garden of Hope which will feature a sausage pairing.
Ten percent of the profits from the event will be donated to the Betty Ferguson Foundation’s Education Advancement Forum Scholarship at College of the Canyons.
Offered during the afternoon of wine tasting will be food tastings from Cake Goodness, Cuisine on Scene, Hidden Havana, M&W Foods, McClaren’s, Salt Creek Grille, Sam’s Speciality Sausages and Toffee DuJour.
An art exhibition courtesy of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association and featuring 18 SCV artists will also be on display.
Tippet said entertainment will be available throughout the day as local jazz, blues, classical guitar and classical piano musicians perform at the event.
“We really wanted to elevate the event and bring more people out to enjoy an afternoon of great wine and food,” said Tippett.
