Judy Fish, superintendent of the Saugus Union School District, standing, waves her arm as she describes her surprise at seeing the hundreds of faces when she entered the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons for the inaugural Festival of Music, which paid tribute to Fish, in Valencia on Tuesday.

The event was a surprise for Fish, who has led the Saugus Union School District for 11 years, and plans to retire at the end of June.
