In response to “Schools improve race relations,” May 28:

Again, Tammy has come up with a very profound situation. It is definitely good news that the “bias-motivated incidents” on school campuses have decreased.

Now, if this tolerance program that Hart district has promoted can be taught at home, then progress can be made on school campuses and in everyday life.

Lack of tolerance and bullying in our schools have led to many devastating incidents.

A student should feel safe when going to school. Bullying and such have run rampant for too long.

When bullying is imposed on a fragile student, or any other student, it can be most devastating and painful. One’s self-esteem, confidence and trust are shattered.

Tolerance has to be taught at home, as well as in the classroom.
