Career fair at COC
College of the Canyons is hosting an Job and Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Canyon Country campus, 17200 Sierra Highway. More than 30 employers are expected to attend. City planning study session
The City Council and Planning Commission are hosting a joint study session at 5:30 p.m. today at the first floor Century Room at City Hall. City staff will give a presentation of the draft "Community Character and Design" guidelines. The City Council and Planning Commission are also expected to discuss AB No. 32 and Senate Bill No. 375. Both bills aim to reduce the number of greenhouse gas emissions. City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

Light agenda for planning meeting
The City Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. today at City Hall's City Council Chambers. The commission will discuss a request by CVS pharmacy to construct a drive-thru pharmacy at its existing location at 19424 Soledad Canyon Road. The proposal includes the closing of a driveway, additional landscaping and a minor reconfiguration of the parking and drive aisles. The second item involves a request from Hall and Crocker, LLC to approve a tentative parcel map to subdivide a 5.27-acre parcel of land consisting of two industrial buildings located in the Valencia Industrial Center.

McLean moves up in the League
Santa Clarita City Councilwoman Marsha McLean was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the League of California Cities for the 2008-2010 term. She was sworn in in late September. McLean served as president of the Los Angeles County Division of the League of California Cities in 2007-08, having previously served as vice president, secretary and treasurer for the league's largest division. She was elected to the City Council in 2002.

Now presenting the Parkmobile
The city of Santa Clarita unveils its new Parkmobile 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bridgeport Park. Visitors can play games and engage in activities. The Parkmobile is a mobile recreation vehicle that travels to different city parks Tuesday through Thursday and provides activities for children ages 5 to 12.
