Preliminary redistricting ideas discussed suggest that the Santa Clarita Valley will be kept whole, according to some early reports.

Other suggestions articulated in line drawing efforts carried online Thursday show a district that includes both the Santa Clarita and Simi valleys.

Lines are being drawn today by members of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission as it continues to reshape state districts to accurately reflect the character of communities.

The commission is charged with re-drawing boundaries for the state's assembly, senate and Board of Equalization districts as well as U.S. Congressional districts, based on 2010 U.S. Census data.

Commission "line drawers" are taking direction from commissioners as they try to come up with maps to present to the public June 10.
