On the fitness scene, innovation is what keeps people coming back and working to stay in shape. Boring workouts are a thing of the past for individuals wanting to stay ahead of the fitness curve.

YogaWorks in Valencia has introduced several new workouts to cure “workout boredom.”

Kelsey Kyro, PR manager for YogaWorks, said new workouts BarWorks and YW-X suspension training were introduced in the Valencia Yogaworks in December.

Kyro said YW-X workout is circuit training that integrates strength, flexibility and cardio, utilizing TRX Suspension Trainers, gliding discs, and one’s own body weight among other tools.

BarWorks uses the support of a ballet barre to increase balance, core strength and flexibility using simple and precise moves.

“BarWorks combines the best of yoga, ballet and Pilates using specific alignment principles from the YogaWorks method,” said Kyro. “Alternating movement and stretching, it uses your own body weight as a natural tool.”

Susan Woods, an instructor at YogaWorks, said the YW-X suspension training is appropriate for nearly everyone.

“It’s interval training,” she said. “It helps increase your muscular endurance and your cardiovascular endurance, as well as build muscle strength.”

Woods said it is important to find the balance in the body.

“We want our students to be energized when they leave,” she said. “Not wiped out.”

Because of a recurring back problem, Robert Kowalczyk, of Valencia, has practiced yoga for more than three years.

He started with the YW-X class when it was first offered at YogaWorks.

“I can’t do cardio workouts at most places,” he said. “However, this setup gives me a good cardio workout without putting stress on my back. I like how this class works; it keeps it interesting.”

Yogaworks was custom-designed with many eco-friendly details. The peaceful space features bamboo floors, low VOC paint, radiant floor heating and purified water.

In addition, there’s an organic tea bar available to students.

At the top of the graceful stairway, a waterfall wall creates a refreshing atmosphere. Floor to ceilings windows flood natural light into the YW-X studio, yoga boutique, lounge and balcony area.

“There’s so much natural light here,” said Kyro, after a YW-X workout. “It makes you feel energized.”

YogaWorks is offering a free week of yoga classes for new members which includes a free BarWorks and YW-X class.
