Saugus loses second straight

Centurions unable to overcome powerful Notre Dame offense

Great offense was not enough to slow down Notre Dame Prep Friday night as Saugus fell for the second week in a row.

Despite outstanding performances by senior quarterback Desi Rodriguez and senior running back Ryan Zirbel, the Centurions fell 52-28 on the road against one of the toughest teams in the Southern Section.

Rodriguez completed 15-of-26 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown and rushed 27 times for 151 yards and a score.

Zirbel rushed 22 times for 218 yards and two touchdowns and caught 5 passes for 55 yards.

Next week, Saugus plays Crespi at College of the Canyons. Crespi comes into the match-up with a 3-1 record, their lone loss to St. Bonaventure.

College Women's Volleyball
Biola 3, The Master's 0
The Master's College lost to Biola in women's volleyball action on Saturday, 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.

The Mustangs are 1-7 in the Golden State Athletic Conference (7-9 overall).

Rachel Roleder made seven kills. Tanya Bekendam added four kills, Rebekah Marselus and Jenna Kapuscinski both had three.

Emily Gray had seven assists at Bross Gymnasium.

Biola improved to 6-2 in the GSAC (16-2 overall). Meghan Warkentin had 12 kills, Kelsey Christoferson added nine.
Abbie Wright had 22 assists.

College Women's Soccer
Concordia 3, The Master's 2
In The Master's College women's soccer game, the Mustangs lost 3-2 in double overtime.

The Master's lost its first conference game and are 2-1 in the GSAC (7-3 overall).

College Men's Soccer
The Master's 2, Concordia 1, OT
David Alegria scored a goal with 2:09 left in overtime Saturday, as The Master's College won 2-1 Saturday at home against Concordia University.

Joel Smith scored for Concordia in the 22nd minute for a 1-0 lead.

Joel Peluffo tied the game in the second half, on an unassisted goal in the 71st minute.

The Master's College had six shots, including two by Alegria and one each by Fabio Joaquim and Andy Hegg. Jon Roberts and Peluffo both came off the bench to have one shot on goal.

Concordia had seven shots on goal.

Kevin Lawson made five saves in 100 minutes for TMC, who is 2-0-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play (6-0-2 overall).

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, The Master's College plays its next game at Cal State Bakersfield.

The next home game for the Mustangs will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday against Vanguard University.
