Uncover which plants and animals are adapted to this transition time and maybe even see a few elusive nocturnal animals. Meet at Towsley Canyon’s front parking lot for this easy hike. Two hours. Interior design disasters for HGTV
Homeowners in the Santa Clarita Valley are sought who have an interior decorating disaster. HGTV is now casting energetic, fun-spirited homeowners who want to remedy their failed decorating attempts. Friends and families of homeowners may also apply — if you think your friend/relative needs a decorating intervention. Homeowners: Must have created a hideous room (that can be fixed cosmetically). Horrible color schemes, decorating “themes” gone wrong, “kitschy” becoming tacky. Loud designs welcome. Must have a family member or close friend who is troubled by the hideousness of the room. (Can be the homeowner him/herself.) Rooms that were decorated by the home’s previous owner will not be considered. Home must be within 60 miles of Los Angeles. The California Highway Patrol, Newhall area, will conduct a free four-week series of “Safe Senior Driving” classes at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center May 27-June 17. The Foundation for Children’s Dental Health will host the second annual free Outdoor Family Movie Night presented by Advantage Disposal 7-10 p.m., Friday, June 3, at  Valencia Heritage Park, corner of McBean Parkway and Newhall Rancxh Road in Valencia. Bring the family and a few blankets and enjoy the Dreamworks film “Magamind.” Enjoy a movie under the stars and raise funds for the Foundation for Children’s Dental Health. Grandparent/child advocates group

Help celebrate Safe Rides 25th year serving the SCV.
