The best meal I’ve ever eaten

I’m glad to feel the taste of fall in the air. It would be nice if the weather stayed this mild!

Seriously, the art of food
I’m a big fan of food. As a child I was called “picky Mickey” by my family because of my refusal to eat certain foods. However, as one can tell, I’ve moved past those issues. Now, I’m a huge fan of good food. I have to say, without hesitation that the five-course AND dessert meal served at the TPC/West Ranch art and wine gala was the best meal I’ve ever eaten. Ever. Kudos to TPC Executive Chef Daniel Otto and his staff for an exquisite meal.

A new taste of the Goose
In keeping with the European flavor of the Loose Goose Wine Festival and the storied Belgian heritage of Loose Goose Founder and President Peter Goossens, the Festival has expanded to include three top Belgian beers: Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Leffe Blonde. These sophisticated import beers will be available in an all-new pavilion called the Belgian Beer Café. Master Beer Sommelier and Belgian Beer Ambassador Marc Stroobandt will be on hand to explain the unique characteristics and brewing process of the three beers, offer suggestions for intriguing food pairings, and teach about the significance and importance of each beer’s signature glass. The Loose Goose Wine Festival winds up today 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bridgeport Park in Valencia. Admission is $65 at the gate. Information: www.loosegoosewinefestival.com.

Flavors of Life
The 17th annual senior wine auction, this year named “Flavors of Life” was a great event, despite the heat! Kudos to event chairwoman Kathy Crone and all who made the day so much fun. A special shout out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s SWAT officers who dazzled the crowd with a spectacular demonstration. I’m a sucker for helicopters, so it was a double treat. I gained a new level of respect for those law enforcement officers who perform so heroically every day!
