More than 60 golfers are expected to tee off for the sixth annual Zonta Golf Tournament, hosted by Zonta Club of SCV, on the mountain course at Robinson Ranch on Monday.

Golfers will be competing for trophies, wine, new cars and a chance to participate in a end-of-tournament shoot-out for a $100,000 cash prize.

The awards dinner will feature a mini-auction with vacation packages, including two nights in a Big Bear cabin; lodging and lift tickets at June Mountain; golf for two, including lodging, in Palm Springs, plus four tickets to tournaments; and dinner and golf at local golf courses and restaurants.

High points of the auction are a seven-day Princess Cruise to the Mexican Riviera or Caribbean, or a week in an ocean view house on Maui for 10 guests.

Opportunity drawings will offer baskets with dinner and movie tickets, golf items and assorted gifts.

Trophies will be awarded for men’s, women’s and mixed teams, and there will be special prizes for holes-in-one, longest drive and closest to the pin on specified holes.

The tournament is run on a “best ball” format, giving golfers at all levels a chance at top prizes.

The annual tournament is one of two major fund-raisers that support Zonta’s many local and international programs to improve the lives of women.

Adele Macpherson and Sharon Langenbeck are chairs for this year’s event, and Bob Kellar returns as honorary chairman.
Tournament sponsor is Mike Berger of the Berger Group at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
