A firefighting drill is being conducted at the 29300 block of The Old Road, Los Angeles County Fire officials said Thursday.

Motorists may see smoke from the roadway. Information on when the controlled burn began, or how large an area it encompasses, was withheld.

The department's annual spring fire drills are being held at the Wayside Honor Rancho on the Pitchess Detention Center property through July 1.

The wildfire training in Castaic is in preparation for the fall when brush fires are more likely to spark in Southern California than any other time of the year.
