Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra (SCVYO) performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra's Annual Youth Orchestra Festival on May 14.

It was the culminating event in a two-year partnership between the SCVYO and the L.A. Phil.

The concert featured more than 100 musicians from all three SCVYO groups: the Prelude Strings, College of the Canyons Orchestra and the COC Symphony Orchestra. The program included the world premiere of a commissioned piece by Derek Spiva Jr.

The Orchestra is supported by the SCVYO Foundation and all groups meet weekly as classes at College of the Canyons.

Musicians of any age are invited to audition for SCVYO at COC on Aug. 20 or 22.

Contact Sue Stanger, executive director, for an appointment at sue@suestanger.com, or visit scvyo.org for further information.
