Nissan of Valencia, the official vehicle sponsor of the Amgen Tour of California, is offering local spectators a special $500 cash-back incentive when they purchase a car during the local stage of the state’s premier bicycle race.

Stage 8 of the tour starts in Santa Clarita on May 22, and Nissan of Valencia will be making the $500 offer to local residents as the tour departs from the city.

Nissan North America is providing more than 40 vehicles for various uses at the event, including lead, medical and operational vehicles, as well as VIP cars that will help guide riders through each part of the race.

“We’re really excited to have local dealers participate in the Tour of California,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Nissan North America.

Nissan of Valencia will display two of its vehicles at the start of the Santa Clarita portion of the race.

“We’re also offering a limited number of VIP passes to the public,” said Daniel Sterkel, general manager of Nissan of Valencia.

The passes allow a person to gain entrance to the VIP lounge. Interested residents can stop by the dealership for the passes, Sterkel said.

“The race presents an unparalleled opportunity for local Nissan dealerships to connect with members of the community who support healthy and active lifestyles, a core mission of Nissan’s,” Carolin said.

The statewide Amgen Tour begins in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday. The race will finish in Thousand Oaks, after the final leg of the tour is kicked off in Santa Clarita.

Nissan is also sponsor of cycling Team RadioShack, a USA team that will be competing in the race. And it has teamed up with Rodale Inc., a health-and-fitness magazine publisher, featuring a program called “Innovation for Endurance.”

Nissan of Valencia is located at 24111 Creekside Road. Those people interested in a VIP pass can also call Mark or Ryan at (661) 255-2020.
