From left to right, Grace Farrell, played by Reece Denmeade, Daddy Warbucks, played by Ethan Ross, and Annie, played by Catie Galan.

Director Marian Urdank worked with 45 cast members to bring the story of little orphan Annie, played by Catie Galan, to life during the recent performances done by Rosedell Elementary School students.

The story takes place in New York City, where the miserable Miss Hannigan, played by Jill Mountan, runs a gloomy orphanage.

When billionaire Oliver Warbucks, played by Ethan Ross, sends his personal secretary Grace Farrell, played by Reece Denmeade, to invite an orphan to spend Christmas at his mansion, he gets more than he bargained for.

Annie tells Warbucks that her parents left her as an infant with a promise to return to get her some day. Hannigan’s brother Rooster, played by Garrett Carpenter, and his girlfriend Lily St. Regis, played by Kira Cragun-Rehders, come to town and pretend to be Annie’s parents in order to collect a $50,000 reward offered by Warbucks to anyone who can prove they are Annie’s parents.

In the end, it is discovered that Annie truly is an orphan and Hannigan, Rooster and Lily are arrested, and Annie is adopted by “Daddy” Warbucks.

Cast members rehearsed throughout the school year, and professional costumes were provided by Tonya Nelson at No Strings Attached Costumes. Bob Shatto, his son Chris and teacher Karen McCallon were the sound technicians. Bob’s daughter Kali headed up the videography team, while Rachel Nelson provided additional sound tech support.
