A Palmdale man believed to be driving drunk on Highway 14 was arrested Thursday after he allegedly drove his SUV into a pedestrian, authorities said Friday.

Quintin E. Taylor, 49, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and hit and run, according to arrest records. Taylor was being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on Friday on $100,000 bail.

Taylor has been convicted on drunken driving charges three times before Thursday’s arrest, said Officer John Lutz of the California Highway Patrol Newhall Station. The pedestrian, who is from Santa Clarita, suffered minor injuries, Lutz said.

About 2:10 p.m., Taylor was driving in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe when he allegedly sideswiped the pedestrian and his parked vehicle north of Soledad Canyon Road, Lutz said.

Taylor continued to drive north on Highway 14 until he was stopped by officers near Escondido Canyon Road in Acton. He allegedly failed a field sobriety test but a preliminary blood alcohol test was not available, Lutz said.

It was not known Friday how fast Taylor was driving at the time he allegedly struck the man, as authorities are still investigating the crash, Lutz said.

Meanwhile, deputies arrested three other drivers on suspicion of drunken driving in the city on Thursday, said Sgt. Rich Cohen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
