Saugus hammers Canyon

Centurions volleyball team now 12-0

Saugus 3, Canyon 0
Saugus won its Foothill League opener on Thursday, defeating Canyon decisively in a straight-set victory.
The Centurions beat the Cowboys, 25-9, 25-12, 25-15.

"We made it a point to come out strong," Saugus head coach Zach Ambrose said.

Katie Estes finished with 20 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Estes came up just short of her season-high of 24 kills.

Jaclyn Clark finished with 13 kills and eight digs for Saugus (1-0 in league, 12-0 overall).

Setter Alyssa Terwall made 37 assists. Rachel Kempler and Taylor Schubert combined for eight kills out of 10 swings.

West Ranch 3, Golden Valley 0
Alison Summers led the Wildcats with 14 kills on Thursday as West Ranch beat Golden Valley, 25-8, 25-14, 25-22 in the teams' Foothill League opener.

Sophomore opposite hitter Isabelle Howell and Megan Futch both had eight kills.

Sophie Burns finished with seven kills and 15 assists.
Lauren Shephard led the team with 18 assists for West Ranch (4-5 overall).

Santa Clarita Christian 3, Wildwood 0
Solidifying their No. 1 ranking in the CIF-SS Division V coaches poll, Santa Clarita Christian beat Wildwood of Santa Monica, 25-10, 25-17, 25-10.

Kristina Gibson came up with seven kills and seven aces.
Karla Eberlein finished with four kills and six blocks.

Kaley Morrison put up four kills, four blocks and four aces.

K.D. Gwynn came up with seven service aces. Natalie Keoshian had four aces.

Joanna Mesopust had 16 assists for her Cardinal teammates.
SCCS is 1-0 in league (5-1 overall).
