Help Henry Mayo

I am writing to voice my strong support of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital master plan. As a member of the nursing leadership at the hospital, I've seen the results of a growing Santa Clarita Valley population and the limited resources and space at the community's only hospital.

After my own personal medical crisis last year through the emergency room, surgery and hospitalization, I can attest to the conditions of overcrowded but excellent care. My doctor was able to rush to my side from her on-campus office, and top-notch specialists were there for my surgical and pathology needs.

The hospital's master plan for growth only has the community's health-care needs at heart, from moving administration and doctors into medical office buildings to allowing for expansion of the Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal ICU development, and more hospital beds, to a parking structure topped by the much-needed heliport.

I am involved in the ongoing development of the Breast Care Center of Excellence that includes prestigious breast cancer specialists in the diagnosis, treatment and the continuum of care for women with breast cancer. The Henry Mayo master plan approval is necessary to continue and grow the quality of care the hospital has provided for the Santa Clarita Valley for more than 30 years.

Donna Ferguson, R.N. MBA Director, Outpatient Surgery/GI Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital
