Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators conduct a search for persons initially believed to be burglary suspects on the 26000 block of Shadow Rock Lane in Valencia on Tuesday.

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old on Tuesday after he and two West Ranch High School students were allegedly seen smoking marijuana and peering into windows of homes at about 9:30 a.m. in the 26100 block of Jasper Court.

The three teenagers were spotted in a resident’s backyard but split up after being chased by deputies, said Lt. Joe Efflandt of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Two of the students returned to the West Ranch High School campus.

The 17-year-old was tackled by a deputy after a short foot pursuit. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and then taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for examination after suffering minor injuries, Efflandt said.

He was later released to his parents, Efflandt said.

The two students were detained on campus and then released to their parents.

Deputies were not able to recover any marijuana.
