City staff will make a presentation on the proposed process Burrtec Waste Industries will go through in order to find a location for its materials recovery facility, also known as an MRF during the City Council Waste Diversion Subcommittee meeting at 2 p.m. today at City Hall.
In April, Burrtec notified the city that it will not build the proposed 170,000-square-foot MRF at the 75-acre location between Placerita Canyon Road and Golden Valley Road after Newhall residents living near the proposal initiated a "Stop the Dump" war. The residents were concerned about the pollution and traffic the plant could create.
By agreement with the city, Burrtec is required to develop and operate a MRF to recycle the city's waste.
