Think of it as the political version of leaning on your car horn to make the guy in front of you move a little faster.

Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich has asked the county’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority boss to come with a strategic plan by year’s end that would “reduce travel time” from the Santa Clarita Valley to downtown Los Angeles.

This week, the authority’s board of directors voted unanimously to approve the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line Infrastructure Improvement Strategic Plan, which calls on the transit authority to work with Metrolink in developing the “rail corridor” for a higher standard of speed and safety.
