McKeon: "Get the House Back"

Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon was back in the Santa Clarita Valley on Thursday, updating local Republicans at the International House of Pancakes in Newhall about legislative progress in Washington, D.C., and urged local Republicans to get out and vote in this year's elections.

He stressed the uniqueness of this election and the importance of Republicans gaining control of the legislative branches of government through a unified Republican party.

"It's important for us to pull together and get the House back," said McKeon, R-Santa Clarita. "We haven't had an election like this since 1952, when it was open on both sides of the spectrum. It's getting a lot of people involved in politics again, and that's a good thing for this country."

In addition to talking about policy, McKeon also made observations about the 2008 campaign, stressing that Republicans need to regain the trust of the American people.

"We didn't do a good job of telling people all of the positive things we did as the majority party," he said. "We're working hard to earn people's trust back."
