Five hundred cubic yards of concrete is scheduled to be poured today to lay the foundation for the east half of the Old Town Newhall Library.

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., 50 trucks are expected to haul the high-strength concrete that will form the base of the 30,000-square-foot library building located on the corner of Lyons Avenue and Railroad Avenue in downtown Newhall.

In recent weeks, construction workers have installed underground piping for the new building, city Senior Engineer Harry Corder said.
