Drew Stier, pictured, Parker Williams and Carter Williams raised more than $1,500 for Japan.

Drew Stier, a 10-year-old from Stevenson Ranch, helped to raise more than $1,500 for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

He and his friends Parker and Carter Williams began with a neighborhood bake sale the Sunday after the disaster across the Pacific Ocean.

Between those funds and more from Drew’s friends and family, they raised $500.

The Rising Sun Karate Academy quickly followed with a fundraising drive of its own that raised more than $200.

Drew then spearheaded a coin drive at Pico Canyon Elementary School with the student council that raised more than $1,000.
